How I Help with Styling Your Session.

Being your photographer means so much more to me than getting behind a camera and snapping photos for 45 minutes. Being your photographer means, I have the amazing privilege of helping you create an experience you’ll remember. You'll remember the giggle of your children when you see the photo for years to come. Or the sweet nothing your husband whispered or the way your husband flirted with you to get you to smile with your nose.

I hope that at the end of the session, you walked away from your journey with your cheeks hurting from smiling and laughing too much and not clenching your teeth. Ideally, we’d become lifelong friends that would eventually get each other’s Christmas cards or perhaps, get coffee some afternoon or, even better, a glass of wine and some pizza. While I’d love to be your friend, my number one goal is to ensure that you and your family show up to your session prepared and not surprised by anything. To prepare ourselves best, a consultation call is necessary. This call allows us to get to know each other a bit more and get comfortable with one another. During this call we’ll talk about location and, most importantly, styling.

Styling is described as how something is made, designed, or performed. It might surprise you that we will be doing all three (made, designed, or performed), during your session. First, we’ll design your session around you and your family. Designing will consist of styling your family with coordinated outfits, setting the scene with the perfect backdrop, and getting comfortable with each other and everyone else during our time together. Lastly, we’ll make your session come to life with how you and your family perform together. This might sound like you are putting on a show, but if you trust the process, it will feel like a 45-minute break from the real world.

If you are struggling with coordinating outfits, let me help! First and foremost, do not feel like you need to run all over and find the perfect outfits, most are right in your closet. Did that Easter outfit ever make an appearance again? Sometimes going with jeans and cute tops is the way to go. Confused about what patterns to wear or not to wear, ask away!

As your photographer, I hope to be more than that person you hired once behind a camera and computer. Being comfortable with one another will make for some amazing photos and memories.
